Experienced ICE mechanics enter through the 6-month conversion route after the practical entry test. Developing mechanics and novices build the required ICE and electrical foundations through the 12 or 24-month route first. Awareness lessons alone do not authorise anyone to service high-voltage systems.
Trace a system architecture, interpret a battery/BMS dataset, identify the task boundary, demonstrate prerequisite low-voltage competence, follow the approved supervised practical gate and record component and interface inspections.

Interpret charging and battery-condition data on a supported rig or vehicle, then decide which further checks belong to the authorised technician and which need specialist escalation. No online assignment ever asks for high-voltage testing at home.
Taught inside the common 660-hour conversion stage — the whole 6-month route and the final stage of the 12 and 24-month routes — with supporting electrical units earlier in the longer routes. This page and the retrofit page share that stage; they don’t add up to 1,320 hours.
No live cell fabrication, live pack repair, safety-interlock bypass or independent high-voltage authorisation is offered. External EV awards (such as IMI) are separate arrangements and are not included by association.
